Tremendous performance for Foxboro born and bred Avery! 3rd in the nation in D1! And, he could have been no. 1, as he lost in double overtime and on RIDING TIME no less (& only by a few seconds) to Dean from Cornell who came in first. Way to go Vic! But here's my question: He's listed as a "redshirt junior" on the NCAA site. That does mean that he will wrestle again next year, correct?

Here's a link to Vic Avery's interview after his 3rd Place finish at NCAA D1s: he'll be back next year stronger than ever!

Sounds as though he's got his act together and his focus in all the right places! Well done, Vic!

If you're curious about Vic's tattoo on his right trapezius/shoulder, Proverbs 3:5-6 from the Bible (NIV) says,

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight."

The Bible also says in Proverbs 20:29, "The glory of young men is their strength."

I really liked hearing Vic say how much he and his teammates are rejoicing in their pursuit of excellence on the mat and in the Room, pushing each other to greater heights and finding joy in the process as well as in the competition they find.

Go for the glory with this frame of mind! Well said, Vic!
