Pretty amazing comebacks from losses by a lot of people too. The consolations are full of upsets and tough wrestle backs. Team race is pretty sewn up, but the race for 2nd and 3rd is a tight and surprising one IMO.

There is no doubt that an officials clinic is desperately needed to inform a number of them what the difference is between 90 degrees and 45 degrees when awarding back points. NEWSFLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a huuuuuuuuuuge difference.

He had a single and the other wrestler jumped to try and free his leg and landed on his back. Call was a BS slam.

Certainly sounds questionable. Thanks for the quick response
Was there any score prior to the DQ?

The kid from lowell bounced 2 feet off the mat and shook the whole building in an absolute no doubt slam not bs slam in any way, 3 hours later he was still in LALA land,

I suppose there are always 2 sides to every coin
Rules question . If Harty was DQd, wouldn't that prevent him from wrestling for 5th?

If dq'd for misconduct would have been out of tournament but he was dq'd because Lowell kid couldn't continue due to illegal hold (in this case the slam), therefore just loses match and the continues in consi bracket

Standinggranby... two feet off the mat? Shook the whole building? You win the prize for the most melodramatic post in the history of maswrestling. Yes he did hit the mat hard... no doubt about that. I hope he is ok.

Anyone that thinks Ryan would intentionally injure an opponent has obviously never met him. My son's have wrestled with Ryan and his brothers since 2007. He has never been anything other than polite and respectful to parents and oppenents.

Saw the slam call. Don't know the kids. Intent is not part of the rule - undue force is. In that situation the Top guy is obligated to return the kid to the mat without undue force. Losing control of the kid would likely get called.

Looked to me as though the Lowell kid jumped up so the other kid squeezed him/pulled him which drove him to the mat without being able to control him. Not an intentional I'm sure but called a slam 9 out of 10 times. Too bad he didn't just take one step OB.

Does anybody have commentary on Fritz's match in the finals? I didn't see it. However, when I saw him at the Lowell Holiday's he looked unbelievable in the finals.

Fritz is performing at a different level than most of these guys. This is not a criticism of the others in his weight class, but just a guy who has exploded into a "man amongst boys". Hopefully he beats Hughes this weekend and gets his just due. Either way he is a kid who will actually be better at the next level because he is driven beyond driven. Good luck to him.

Fritz made Bolden look like a first year wrestler. Absolutely dominated, had him to his back within 30 seconds. Didn't seem to struggle with Bolden's strength at all.

When I saw him this year he seemed to have improved well beyound what I remember which was pretty good. Would pay good money to see a Hoehn Viruet Exhibition match after New Englands. They have been the Larry Bird and Magic Johnsson of Mass. High School Wrestling these past years. Would love to see them go at it one more time.

Highlight clip posted from the streamed version of the finals at the NFHS website - announcing by Jared Ware and Brett Poirier
[link] - (still can't figure out how Basile got taken down when he had the T2)

and of course got dragged into looking at other highlight clips and noticed that Michigan still uses the old weight classes (and will be starting the tournament at 119) - anyone know how many other States don't use the current Federation weights?
