Recognizing that the rankings are fun to argue about and that the real rankings will be determined on the mat, but three weights in D3 are going to have wild sectionals:

106lbs....D3C has 5 of the top 6 rankings
120lbs....D3S has 5 of the top 6 rankings
152lbs....D3N has top 3 and 5 of top 7 rankings

Should be fun to watch.

Great atmosphere for a top meet. Congrats to Wayland and some clever roster moves that paid off. Of those notable matches, the 132, 145, and 160 were not very close at all. These were three excellent wrestlers and the scores do not reflect that they were all with one man in complete control but just not able to turn for backs and pins. The 195 was 1-1 until 7 seconds left and heading to OT when SB decided to try a headlock and gave up a tired 2. Congrats to Vespa for a huge win. The heavyweights went to double OT with Fallon escaping from bottom after a slow war of attrition. Cope and Elias were unchallenged and dominant as was Cooley at 138.

Hopefully they meet again next weekend for the state title.

Did Weston, Sandwich, & Scituate wrestle this past weekend? If so, what were the results at 113 & 120?

Sandwich beat Weston and Cohassett on Sat. Not sure of exact score but both were close. Hopkins at 113 had 2 pins but did not face Martinkus. Zaw at 120 was 2-0 with both by pins

138 Division 3 finals will be Weir v Cooley and if anyone has a shot of knocking of Weir it'd be the freshman. This kid is the real deal, definitely ranked too low but it is justified due to the above wrestlers papers obviously

Why would Chris Behen from Danvers not be in this equation? He is a Senior, a returning State placer, I believe he won his weight class at Bay State Games last summer, just won the CAL/NEC Tournament and was named OW. Look north my friend..........

I think it will be either Behen or Hilchey in the finals with Weir. Either one of those 2 have a better shot at beating Weir, IF anyone in D3 can. Both are seasoned seniors and Behen has a combo of skill and strength and Hilchey has had so many matches with Weir that maybe he will be able to figure out how to beat him.

Impressive to see Colby Holland ranked 2nd as a freshman.

Durkin beat Whyman at 126 this past weekend

Weir is very tough at 138 and I don't see anyone beating him.

I have not seen Cooley wrestle this year so can someone share who he has beaten. He struggled as an 8th grader and its an impressive turnaround for him to be ranked 5th as a freshman.

I do agree Weir will win D3 states, regardless who makes it to the finals with him. Going for his 4th straight title will have him focused. Not sure what your definition of struggled is, but as an 8th grader Cooley won MA States @130 last year and his 2 losses at New Englands were to the kids who ended up placing 1st and 3rd.

Close score between Weir and Hilchey in their last match. But I don't see anyone in D3 stopping him get his 4th state title. Good luck to D3- 138.

Saw Colby Holland wrestle for the first time at the CAL/NEC Tournament. Very impressive. Guessing he's going to win a lot more tournaments over the next few years.

I think he was referring to the high school level, not youth.

@Rugger, you must not have seen previous posts by Realityking..he was clearly talking about youth. Maybe I'll see him in Wayland this weekend, since believe BOTH of his sons are now on the same HS team..

Agreed Behan is a great wrestler who has paper - one of the strongest pound for pound wrestlers in any division

I believe at 195 Juan Zabulu wrestles for AMSA now part of their co-op since Hudson dropped their program.

If this is the case, my apologies to Charlie- his Finals match with Boyle was one for the ages and his overall performance on the day certainly could have been deserving of OW accolades. I could have sworn that I read in Monday's Salem Evening News that Behen took OW. We were there for medals up to 220 and then beat feet. Both kids were super impressive and deserving, and again- my apologies to Charlie if he in fact took OW at CAL/NEC last weekend.

GrayDawg I agree don't get me wrong behen is very good I just know that I loved being a freshman on varsity more than any year because every single match I felt no nerves I had nothing to worry about just go out and wrestle. I know behen is tough and im very familiar with Hilchey I just believe this kid Cooley is the real deal.
