Coach Costa can you verify the weight allowances for a match tomorrow if you missed Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday?

I believe 1 missed day is plus 1. 2 missed days is plus 2. So say you have a wrestler at 132. Now that we have the 2 pound allowance. Making the weight class 134. Then with the 2 snow days he gets plus 2. So he only has to bed 136 tomorrow morning and 139 tomorrow afternoon

4-5.5 is the rule page 18 federation rule book.
Competitions that are postponed for one calendar day or more, for reasons beyond the control of the participating school (s), or practices that cannot be held in these situations due to school policy shall be treated the same ascompetitions when there are consecutive days of competition in terms of the one pound aallowance.

That rule is as follows: when there are consecutive days of team competition, there shall be a one pound additional allowance granted each day for all wrestlers up to a maximum of TWO pounds.

So if a school in meet not allowed Tuesday & Wednesday both schools will be granted 2 pounds.

For those missing Thursday also & compete Friday They would ONLY get 2 this is MAXIMUM ALLOWED.

Weight allowance for the Mountie Invite is 1 lb for Saturday due to our rescheduled duals with Taconic and LaSalle. Everyone should have received the info by e-mail but I'm sending this because I know that some people don't check their messages.

No school Tuesday +1, Wednesday +1, Thursday +1
match Friday +3
Followed by
Match Saturday +4

CAN'T BE USED TO CERTIFY AT SCRATCH WEIGHT.

I'm pretty sure the "No practice" weight allowance caps at +2.

Where is the link to the rule?

ART. 5 . . . When there are consecutive days of team competition, there shall be a 1-pound additional
allowance granted each day for all wrestlers up to a maximum of two pounds. In order to be granted
this 1-pound additional allowance, a minimum of 48 hours advance notice is required for the
opponent(s). The acceptable person(s) to receive that notice shall be the head coach, principal or
athletic director. Competitions that are postponed for one calendar day or more, for reasons beyond
the control of the participating school(s), or practices that cannot be held in these situations due to
school policy shall be treated the same as competitions when there are consecutive days of
competition in terms of the 1-pound allowance, with the exception of the required 48-hour notice.

So, do misses school days and competition days stack?

No school Monday, No School Tuesday, Meet Wednesday.
For the Make up meet Thursday (from last Wednesday) we should get +2 (+3 for 3 days without practice, but +2 is the max)?

Thanks

Because we may still be experiencing missed practices or meets due to weather, we need to keep this in mind as we head down the stretch to sectionals.

A 1 lb. (up to a maximum of 2 lbs) allowance is granted when a competition is postponed for one calendar day for reasons beyond the control of the participating school(s) or if one teams practice (the day before a competition) is cancelled due to school policy (Example: Superintendent cancels after school activities due to weather). 48 hours notice is not required. NFHS Rule 4-5-5

Where there are multiple days of competition, the maximum allowance to be granted is two (2) lbs. A third consecutive day of competition would grant this 2 lb. allowance to the schools involved. A fourth and fifth consecutive day would require the 2 lb. allowance to carryover.
The allowance would never go to 3 lbs. over.
Example: After the 2 lb. growth allowance is in effect:
Dual Meet Tuesday: 108 lbs.,
Dual Meet Wednesday: 108+1= 109 lbs.,
Dual Meet Thursday: 109+1= 110 lbs.,
Tournament Friday: All teams in the tournament at 110 lbs., 2nd day of Tournament on Saturday: 110 lbs. Since the maximum allowance is +2; that would mean NO EXTRA POUND for a second day of a 2-day tournament (if the tournament began on Friday with +2). The +2 would carry over from the first day. NFHS Rule 4-5-5

s.shore,
This info may all be correct, but be careful of quoting NFHS rulebook on here on subjects where the MIAA has some state specific "modifications". If you are aware of all these, please disregard this!

I hear you. Which is why I'm going to quote from the MIAA '14-15 handbook:

82. Wrestling
82.1 The National Federation Wrestling Rules will be the official rules of all Boys
wrestling contests, including all tournaments with the following exception:

Any regular season dual-meet competition ending in a tie score shall remain
a tie. Only tie scores in a dual meet tournament will be decided by the
existing National Federation tie-breaker criteria. Girls wrestling will follow
FILA Freestyle Wrestling Rules (Spring 2013 starting date) with rule
modifications to be recommended to the MIAA Board of Directors by the
Wrestling Committee.

Every link in the MIAA directs you to the NFHS rule book. The MIAA is not going to re-write the rules when it's already done for them(why re-invent the wheel?). The MIAA is a bureaucracy.

For what is worth I only repeated and quoted the same rule that SJP and SHVARTS linked and quoted above...please see their posts.I expanded on by dumbing it down, no offense to anyone.

Now, Montytech has a very good argument. When you take MIAA rule 82.4.8 in to consideration, if you make weight at 6am the day of the match, you will be allowed a 3lb allowance at the match site weigh-in. That can be interpreted to mean the 2lb max allowance can grow to 5.

I prefer one standard across the country, it just makes it easy. Once the MIAA decides to "modify" then everything just goes haywire.

so

assuming no school tomorrow.
2 missed days (1 lb per day)
for wed dual meet:

so for 106:

wed am: 106 +2 for jan 1 bump +2 for 2 missed days = 110 weighin max

if you make 110 in am - 113 in evening (+3)
if you miss in am, 110 in evening (modified scratch)

IS THIS CORRECT ?

(someone who knows the 100% correct answer)

s.shore, tks for posting the additional info...
a few additional places MIAA rules vary from NFHS are
- participation limits 24 scheduled minutes per day vs # of matches. (except post season)
- 2 lb allowance is granted on 1st Monday in January
- the entire weight control program.
- disqualification ramifications
- skin condition note definition of "current" = 14 days
- post season protest committee

most of these I guess could be considered augmentations vs modifications, but a couple are definitely contradictions to NFHS.
