I was talking with the Marlboro coaches about Shrewsbury looking to start a Co-Op, would it make sense to join Hudson. In an emergency situation, can they combine with ASMA or Northbridge? Saw it with Haverhill/Whittier a few years back.

Why right in the middle of the season. Just seems odd? And not fair to wrestlers from Hudson or wrestlers planning to wrestle Hudson this year.

At the Marlboro tournament, they had 4 coaches and 2 wrestlers. I don't know if the numbers have improved.

Maybe they can bring Aaron back as Principal and he can revive the program.

Shame, great to play a small part of the run that went on from 03-12. Team looked DOA from the start this year and with a new AD, who is great btw, signs pointed to this coming at some point.

They're co-oped with AMSA, AMSA is hosting a quad on Saturday at Assabet, with them, us, Leominster and Worcester Tech

As sad as it is that Hudson folded there are also schools that hsvd wrestling now that didn't when I wrestled in 1998. Saugus, Andover, Chicopee, Plymouth North, Oliver Ames, Josiah Quincy upper, etc. also if you look at [link]

You see a bunch of guest schools in co op formations that are new such as Newburyport HS, Groton, wareham, Bedford...
I see Massachusetts wrestling overall going in the right direction. Quick question: is there a limit on how many years a group of schools can exist as a co op before they're forced to split or can they re apply co op paperwork indefinitely. One the one hand you want new teams to branch off of co ops but on the other sometimes interest is so sparse at a school the only way to field a team is as a co op. I wonder if wrestlers on this site who have been on a co op can speak to the experience in terms of hassles to commute, inclusion by the host team, and if the guest team that was affiliated was being prepared to spin off or whether the coach of the host team viewed the guest school as talent feeders too valuable to give up. Some co ops seem to have existed forever: Mt. Grey lock and the 7 other Berkshire county schools they host, lynnfield- north reading, Georgetown- Ipswich, Marblehead swampscott...

We have been in a co-op with Fitchburg and Oakmont for a while and just started with Murdock last year. Co-ops are easy to start and easy to stay.

hudson has only canceled the season. we already had to cancel to many matches to make up due to only having 3 wrestlers at odd weights and no commitment. luckily the new athletic director is very supportive and will be offering sign ups for next season and will be looking to co op with more school then just tahonto who only had 2 kids come out.

We have 2 from Fitchburg, 3 to 4 from Oakmont. We usually get a lot from Oakmont each year. We had 2 Captains last year that were Oakmont students. And we even had a meet at Oakmont last year do to so many Oakmont Seniors. It's pretty well talked about at Oakmont, it kind of takes care of itself there. It's a lot harder to get the FHS and Murdock kids to come out.

perhaps MassWrestling can contact him and see if he would like to cover major events for them. MassWrestling is an established entity and could add weight to his resume if he reported for them. Lord knows the site could use more coverage on events. I will not go back into the way back machine, but I used to try to get to all of the major tourney's when I was on staff with M.W. It is a time consuming gig, but rewarding. Maybe someone from MW can reach out to Jared?

Reality check: MassWrestling doesn't speak on behalf of any program, coach, or wrestler, and there's no agenda or "official press" passes here to print out. While some programs come and go, the overall community is relatively fixed in size year over year, and isn't going to grow bigger with more enthusiastic "coverage".

The idea was not to malign or defame MassWrestling. My point was that Jared Ware was noted as wanting to get into broadcoasting and MassWrestling could add him as staff to go out and cover major events. His role would not be to advocate for anything or influence anyone, but cover the events he sees fit to boost his broadcasting(video posted to M.W/Youtube) resume while covering major tourneys or meets for the MassWrestling community. This seems like the perfect partnership. He wouldnt need to be any more "official" than being designated by you as the MW Beat Report in an email and then he could in an unbiased fashion provide informative reports from the field on this site and then put it on his resume as such. You do not need an official press pass to cover HS wrestling and if you do then you call up the AD of the school hosting the event and ask for one and they will be thrilled to grant it for that event and give wrestling coverage. Once again, this and prior posts were not meant to malign this site or its staff. Will more coverage of wrestling increase the amount of programs, probably not, but if we polled site users and asked if they would rather see coverage of events they cant drive to the majority would say yes. It would mean more traffic visit and ad views for MW.

I would agree that having more coverage would be a beneficial service to the members. For example, on the NH site, long time member Maple Grove will often reports on the tournaments he attends, , giving a short summary, usually a paragraph of each finals bout. Even if this was done occasionally by Jared it could become a nice feature for either in season tournaments or the occasional dual meetmeet

I agree also that it would be beneficial, just as long as it is done in a unbiased fashion. And who knows maybe it will increase the amount of programs, I really don't know how it could hurt.

Rumor has it that an emergency co-op has been approved. The Hudson guys can join AMSA /Assabet.
