I was thinking about schools that don't have programs that should and figured I'd post it here for discussion in hopes that maybe someone gets a seed planted and we can continue growing the sport in Mass. Ideally, every school would have a wrestling team, but below are the fifteen that I think would most benefit the growth in the state and have a chance to succeed. A couple are currently in co-ops, but should have their own team.

1. Westwood - decent size, great tradition in other sports
2. Attleboro
3. Stoneham
4. Bedford - pretty sure these three schools are all the only ones in leagues that are rich in wrestling tradition without squads.
5. Falmouth
6. Apponequet
7. Lynn English or Lynn Classical or both
8. Abington
9. Holyoke
10. Medford
11. Fitchburg
12. Westboro
13. Shrewsbury
14. Doherty - #11-14 are all worcester area. Much has been made about a need for growth and development in Boston, but Worcester shouldn't be ignored either.
15. East Boston - really, every Boston school, but some programs are already starting. Eastie has a higher enrollment than most that would hopefully help sustain a new program.

I have a son who would love to see Bishop Feehan start a wrestling program. If anyone out there has a wrestler going to Feehan or thinking about going to Feehan. Please contact me.

Thank You,
Peter Stratton

In the Berkshires Pittsfield High, Drury, McCann and St Joe all have strong wrestling traditions. Hoosac Valley also had a solid program for a bit. They have all had a state champion and all but McCann and Hoosac a league championship. I believe all but St. Joe could support a program now with the right coach/admin support. I also think that Wahconah and Lee with their strong athletic traditions would be prime candidates for a program. Lee actually had one for a few years.

Fitchburg co-ops with us and Doherty co-ops with Worcester Tech. Strongly agree with Westboro, Shrewsberry and Wachusett. North Middlesex needs a team as well, I heard they were trying to be the next team on the Leominster, and Groton Dunstable co-op but now if I'm not mistaken it fell through the cracks.

They were supposed to go down last year as well, but I believe they're fine.

Lots of teams in SE Mass without programs. I bet I'm missing a few.

We have a dozen Attleboro kids participating in the Kryptonite Wrestling Klub at the youth level. Does anyone have experience getting a new program off the ground?

We're still trying in Attleboro. AD said there's not enough interest yet.

Dartmouth and Stang would be awesome schools for programs. Some really athletic kids at both schools.

With kids already in the youth programs for Attleboro and the huge amounts of good athletes in that system it would be a great place for a coach to make a name for themselves. It would not take to much to have a good program there.
