Coach put rule there in post I did not see track or swimming so not sure why that was asked.
those sports allow multiple competitors to compete in an event in post season.
Wrestling does not allow that.

OK, probably 100 reasons why this won't work, but....

On any given day, a wrestler can be varsity or JV.. (ie.. on Wednesday he wrestles JV match, and on Saturday wrestles varsity for one meet of a quad...)

So, to get around the ridiculous split squad rules, why not have sub-varsity competition with wrestlers who just happen to often wrestle varsity? The level of competition can be very... word of mouth...

Also, regarding A and B squad in a tournament... I don't know if it is defined in the rule book as to what makes up a tournament. Is it written strictly that a varsity tournament is made up of ONE competitor per team in each weight class?
A Dual meet is clearly defined as one person per weight, but is that same rule applied (in writing) to the definition of a tournament?
If not, there really can't be an argument to allowing more competitors per team into a tournament....
Obviously a very different set of rules, but pretty much all (at least D3) in season college tournaments allow a number of entrants in each weight class from each team. and often only the highest scorer from each weight is counted into the total.... there's no varsity/JV distinction.

As far as I know you can have varsity kids to exhibition matches against other varsity level kids and call it JV but it is not a real match and is not recorded for records and seeding.

As for the tournament with A and B squads I thought it could be done but counts as 2 days toward the 20 max.

Again...
No sub-varsity competition in cross country, track, volleyball or wrestling, or any event which combines sub-varsity with varsity level competition, will be approved which seems to establish champions or which provides competitors with any award and/or recognition not provided to all other participants equally.

I dont know how that could be any clearer.

You cannot record 2 days of competition on one calendar day.
No two team split squad

I will get a ruling on second non point scorer in same ins tournament

not sure if you're responding to my post... but I'm saying... what if a team enters (for example) 28 "varsity" wrestlers in a tournament... unless it is somewhere clearly defined that a tournament team has 14 entrants...

as far as I know, there's no definite distinction between your varsity and subvarsity wrestlers.

Pzachilli - outside of what the rules state (or perhaps ambiguously state), what is your opinion. If a team can field a competitive "b" team why not let them?

I think the MIAA is picking on Carl Cincotta in North Andover. Too much success!

Gents, I strongly suggest you all read the rule book. There are a lot of questions on here that are very clearly answered in the rule book. Now there are also a lot of rules that I don't agree with...
