Didn't like the way the heavyweight match ended. I thought Hourani's (spelling)response was justified somewhat. Why would Webb run like that?

there are Several National level tournaments over the next month but New England placement is not a qualification requirement and it is not a State "sanctioned" event i.e,. MIAA

Disnt see the match but so most matches all weekend. Calling out 1 match when it is clear that stalling, protecting a lead, or wrestling to win is taught. Laying on the mat from the bottom is as much stall as not engaging from neutral. I agree with your thoughts I don't think one wrestler should be called out when it is rampart in the sport

I agree, Kudos to Eric Kerr, coming in as an alternate and hitting the eventual runner up out of the gate, he fights back and places, having to go through three tough Mass kids that were ranked higher to get there.

Worth noting that one of Monserrat's two losses was avenged.

He ran like that cuz he just won New England's, just like some do in the NCAA finals. Was it Burroughs that did the back flip one year? I myself frown upon the unsportsmanship of it, but Hourani's response was far from just. The 1st time he threw Webb into the table should of been a pt and unsportsmanlike, the last time he should of been DQ'd. Not once but twice he shoved/threw Webb into the table, which could of not only injured Webb, but the scorekeepers as well.

I thought Maine might finally do a little better now that they had an All State. The southern portion of the state's teams should look at going to more tournaments outside of the state, especially ones like the Lowell Holidays, or West Side Duals.

Really....so with 15 seconds left in the period Burroughs did a back flip? The first time he got shoved into the desk was obviously unsportsman like. The second time was because he was running around the outside of the mat with 15 seconds left in the match...that's unsportsman like as well. This kid is fantastic..i just didn't think it was necessary to run around the way he did. Great career though.

I agreed with you that it was unsporting to run around, and I get the concept of there's no stall call yet, and protecting the lead, and it was more like the last 7 secs, but beside the point of the time, serious injuries could have taken place. All wrestlers need to win and lose with grace.

Webb was also keeping away from the kid as to not get thrown. I don't think what he did was nearly as flashy as a backflip. What I really liked about his match was that after he got shoved into the table the first time, his coach started arguing about it with the ref (as would many coaches) and Webb told him to stop and forget it and said he just wanted to keep wrestling. I liked seeing that poise and focus during the match.

I think its quite clear by now that VT 2 and VT 3 needs to be eliminated from qualifying for new englands. They went a combined 6-56 with no placers. Vermont should only qualify 1 for New Englands.

Actually Calvin call placed 6th and he was a VT 2. But spladeCradle you know all right!.... Here we go again. May wins new England's and people wanna attack VT. Good thing those two VT 3s that have won new England's didn't listen to you.... How about this idea!!! We give mass 15! And CT 2. And every other state 1! It would be perfect right!

Who was the last VT3 New England champ? (I'm just curious)

Also, here's a link to the Caldwell vs. Metcalf championship match. [link] The flip happens around 10:50

MAU130,

I am not trying to attack Vermont. I am strictly speaking numbers here. How can you justify VT 2 and VT 3 going 6-56 at New Englands as a positive result?

I had Call as the VT1, so those VT2 numbers might be slightly off.
