pretty good predictions. Have some arguments about 113, 120 and 152...but well done. Few kids you did not predict will show.

well here it goes.

At 113 Billy Wehring (MA) will make a showing, lost to Mac 1-0 in semis at mass, allstate on a penalty point. and Tyler Raetz from MAU will also be in the mix. I think both will beat Celico and Laplante if they matchup.

At 120 Robinson over Derosa

At 132 Defosses (MA) will be in the mix

At 152 Viruet (MA) over Librie

I think Wehrings road is too tough he has McCann and if he wins he gets celico going to the bottom he is going to have to beat the loser of hamilton and beaulieu at some point on the bottom at 120 i don't see robinson beating gassaway he pinned derosa at lowell and desfosses could place he has to beat lafountain on the bottom thats a toss up and i went with lafountain and 152 is another toss up i went with history and picked labrie

Again, not much to argue with. And yes, should be a great tournament.

I will make a few predictions, but not for all the weights

106: Freitas vs Cardosa in semis
If Freitas wins, Freitas over Aquino
If Cardosa wins, Aquino over Cardosa

113: Kyle Lidner over Hamilton

120: Gassaway over Derosa

126: Jack over D'Alosio

170: Garcia over Drover

Some of these could be argued as upsets but they are my predictions. I think the Team race will be be MAU in lead with Danbury 20-30 points behind, then Timberlane behind Danbury by a close 1-2 points. Tough Tournament to really predict, should be exciting to see!

I'll pick Drover at 170. Toughness and conditioning will win out here.

@ 182 Gallagher will do better than 6th.

1. Jack (Danbury)
2. McLinden (Timberlane)
3. Ryan (Dracut)
4. D'Aloisio (Lincoln)
5. Cannone (Trumbull)
6. Soto (Johnston)
Updated after Gutierrez was scratched would have placed Bennett from Nashua North but I have him beating soto then catching cannone

Wehring lost to Hamilton in All State semis by 1 point. Hamilton never scored. Hamiltons win to finals was a gift by the Ref calling a penalty point on Wehring for stalling on top. More ridiculous, wehring had a locked in move, he was not just lying on Hamilton, you could argue Hamilton was stalling on bottom for not attempting to better his position (laying on his stomach). At the very least it should have been called a stalemate, and both kids should have decided the outcome in OT. Very close match, so he is in the mix, all I am saying. But, its a tough road at NE, so you never know. I think 113 is so deep, most matches will be decided by 1 or 2 points.

I watched that match and I mean no disrespect to Wehring he is a very talented wrestler but that merkle/nebraska hold that he had is a stall and those stall calls were legitimate

no disrespect taken. All I was trying to say was that the 113 bracket is deep, and many of the matches I predict will be decided by 1 or 2 points. A lot of talent. I don't think there is a clear stand out to take this weight class.

CARL'S CINDERELLA'S

After extensive study of film and research at tournaments across New England throughout this season here are a few wrestlers who I could see placing and even winning this outstanding and difficult tournament.

106-VT 3 Nate Gebo (Middlebury)

113- ME 2 Bradley Beaulieu (Marshwood)

120- NH 1 Tyler Fitzpatrick (Timberlane) A difficult weight class but this kid is tough, and I think he has shown that he can hang with the best all season

126- NH 2 Cam Bennett (Nashua North)

132- CT 4 James Leuci (Newtown)

138- ME 3 Colin Sevigney (Wells) I think he’ll get on a roll if he beats Peters the momentum will push him past favorite Monserrat from Methuen MA, from there it would be a cakewalk into the finals

145- NH 2 Dan Lawrence (Concord)

152- RI 2 Emmanuel Borsay (Hope) Another tough weight class, if he can get past Viruet, he lost to LaBrie in the RI state finals, and rarely do lose twice to the same person

160- MA 3 Ben Spicer (Wakefield High School)

170- MA 4 Jastice Bolden (Springfield Central High ) One of few MA 4’s that could do a lot of damage

182- RI 3 John Perroni (Mt. Hope)

195- VT 2 Kienan Kittredge (Champlain Valley)

220- VT 3 Xavier Giddings (St. Johnsbury) He’s going to have a tough match against Butterbrodt in his second match, but he has looked strong on his feet all season and that is where Butterbrodt has been weak all season. If he can avoid the cheap tilts on bottom he might be able to squeak out a win.

285- CT 4 Nicholas Crowle (Fairfield Prep) You never know with heavyweights but Crowle has been willing to get down and dirty all year. He didn’t look his best at the CT state tournament but I think he has a serious chance to place at New England’s

no doubt this is one of the deepest weights a lot of very good underclassmen as well with Beaulieu, McCann, Wehring, DelGallo, Matt Kelley, Raetz

Lets not forget brennen liebel from agawam as well very tough kid lightening quick on his feet could definitely be in the mix as well, didnt he beat wehring in the 3rd/4th place at all-states? could see upsets in the lower half of the bracket both he and wehring are tough outs for anyone to see
