would be interesting from a legal standpoint if an out-of-state wrestler (from a state that follows NFHS rules) were to get hurt in a 6th match in MA. Would liability fall on the host, coach for allowing, or MA for adopting an exception? Interesting tidbit for those that follow the limit...if one wrestler has had 5, and other has not, for purposes of team scoring, the wrestler without 5 wins by default (even if they met earlier with different outcome), although most tourneys will give medals to both

The Federation of max 5 matches per day is much easier to understand and enforce than the MA rule of max 24 minutes per day, not counting overtime.

Any idea why MA modifies the Federation rules? Same thing happens for soccer and it causes confusion.

I would have followed up on the "ask a ref" thread, but couldn't find a reply button.

DNOWA,

I would assume that if an out of state team enters into a meet/tournament with a Massachusetts host, then they are by default accepting the Massachusetts modifications.

However, with that being said, you know where assuming gets us.

The Ask-A-Ref section of the site is not forum-based, so there's no reply button. They're in the content section of the site like the results archive.
