Sometimes you have to find a Beast to find someone willing to fight a Beast. That is exactly what New England matchmaker Jesse Camp has done in finding a new opponent for the most recognizable "Beast" in mixed martial arts.

UFC Hall of Famer Dan "The Beast" Severn is slated to headline the Worcester, MA. DCU Center event "The Beast Comes East" on May 20th. The (7-2) Lee "The Beast" Beane will take on Severn, an MMA vet of over 120 bouts. Beane was the first ever CageFX Heavyweight Champion, capturing the title in 2009. Not unlike his opponent, Beane has a deep Wrestling background as a H.S. 3-time State Champion, 2x New England Champion & Senior National H.S. All-American, & as a Division I competitor at Brown University. MORE: [link]

Is it just me or are some of the greats from the past hanging around just a bit too long? I mean Severn is going to be 53 years old, Couture just got beat badly, Gary Goodrich and Mark Colman haven’t won in awhile. I don’t care what kind of shape you’re in, at 50+ you are not what you were at 30+ (and that is coming from personal knowledge).

Beane is among the short list of highly touted New England Heavyweight prospects. After starting his professional career with 6 straight wins he suffered his first loss to the then-undefeated Christian Morecraft (now fighting for the UFC ). His second loss came in September of last year to the then 5-1 Parker Porter. At the time Porter's only loss was to now UFC Champion Jon "Bones" Jones. With one win squeezed in between, Beane has stepped in to take this fight, showcasing the true attributes of a professional mixed martial arts fighter; always wanting to face a greater challenge with a Warrior Spirit. The fight is also a smart career move for the 26 year old Beane. A victory over Dan Severn would ensure that his losses are quickly forgotten & keep him right in the top echelon of rising local talent. In accepting the new opponent, Severn responded with a gracious & welcoming demeanor, implying that as he nears the end of his career it could be a changing of the guards & a torch could be passed from one BEAST to another.

Bump: Wrestler vs. Wrestler @ the DCU Ctr. (Worcester Centrum). This is an unbelievable Venue location! It's a giant step up from the usual CFX locations that run local MMA events in Plymouth & Mansfield. Come witness the Brawl of the BEASTS!

Bump: Only 9 days until the big event @ Worcester's DCU Ctr. This will be a momentous show at an admirable venue.

The big question is: will the "Original Beast" (Dan Severn) be passing the Torch over to the "New-Wave Beast" (Lee Beane)? It is a battle of Old School (Severn is 52 year's old) vs. New School (Beane is 26 year's old). Which Beast will prevail?

Lee "The Beast" Beane Triumphs over UFC legend & Hall of Famer Dan "The Beast" Severn. Beane came out of his corner blazing with intensity & with the look of extreme concentration etched in his eyes. He methodically dismantled Severn from the very beginning of the opening round. Beane's Boxing Skills have been dramatically improved since his previous fights. His leg kicks were devastating as he repeatedly connected & left an impressionable impact on the support structure of Severn's foundation. Beane proceeded with the calculated precision of a Muay Thai Warrior as he contiued to stalk his opponent. The fight ended abruptly in the first round with Beane "Knocking Out" his seasoned opponent using his fisticuffs like a true pugilist. His technical approach & tactical proficiency was finely tuned & honed by his Training Camp Comrades at Bishops MMA & Boxing Gym in W. Bridgewater. At the completion of the fight, Beane made a short speech to thank all of his cohorts for their support in his training camp process. He mentioned his appreciation to his trainers - Fred Conrad & Eddie Bishop, along with his MMA promoter & Prime Athletics official sponsor - Sean Rockwell.

Here's a "You-Tube Video" of the recorded fight scene. The action starts at the 4:55 min. mark & the "Knockout" occurs at about the 8:16 min. mark of the video: [link]

Dan "The Beast" Severn also addressed the crowd & made an appreciative speech towards the fans as he passed the Torch of Victory from the "Old School Beast" to the "New Wave Beast" with a blessing towards Lee "The Beast" Beane's MMA future endeavors!

well... the real knockout comes at the 8:56 mark!!

Since it's not one of "my own" I get to complain about the refs now!!! What the heck was that guy waiting for... Lee had to stop punching and put his arms up before the ref would step in!!
