Reminder this is a "K-12" tournament. Last year we had around 65 HS students that came out to wrestle and had some really decent matches with NE Champs / placers and State Champs that wanted to continue their season some.

Can indivdual wrestlers register or do they need to be with their team? My son's team finishes after the states and I would like to get him more experience throughout the year.

the tournament has no team awards or stats. Can show up with 1 kid or 30 from the same team, doesn't matter. When you register through trackwrestling, you can list your team or not, it's more of a "representing" the club thing. Tournament is based on individual wrestlers, however if there are a bunch of kids from the same club..the pairing team will try to separate kids from the same club into different brackets (If possible). Your child will be placed in a bracket with other kids close to his weight and age.. once his bracket is done wrestling, the pairing team will tally the results and 1-4th places will get medals...

I have been asked if 1-day USA Wrestling cards will be available for purchase at the door for $15. The answer is yes. You'll still need to preregister on Trackwrestling by the Saturday afternoon deadline.

Honestly though, the better deal is to go to the mat.com and purchase a season card for under $35. There will be other tournaments going on afterwards where a card is needed. There are also 2 other youth tournaments coming up before ours that the card can be used:

Westerly, RI - 2/21
South County (Narragansett H.S, RI) - 3/14

you might have clicked on the link from last year's event. They don't seem to disappear from trackwrestling. Here is the link to register for this year's tournament: [link]

The pairing team tries to group the kids into 4 - 6 man brackets , numbers provided, since it is round robin format. The Bantams will usually only be grouped in 4 man brackets, so all can receive medals at that age. But even if for some reason they would have to go 5 people, I would still give out a medal. It's important to keep the K-2nd grade kids excited about the sport and want them to have a positive experience. That being said..there are also some really good competitive wrestlers at that level from the nearby clubs.

There will be a guest photographer present in the morning session for the 6 - 10 yr old group, that will be able to print out 5x7 action shots immediately onsite. (cash only)

Just got back from the Somerset tourney. The staff was super friendly and helpful. This was my sons 1st tournament. The one thing I did not like that left a sour taste in my mouth was my son weighed in at 70 lbs, and was forced to wrestle kids that were either 5 and 10 lbs heavier and had probably had 2 - 3 years more experience.
