Please give me a few days to post the seeding chart for this year's Youth New Englands. It's being finalized.

The tournament will be held at Lowell High School on Sunday March 7th.

What is the restriction on 8th graders that wrestled for their high school team qualifying for the New England tournament?

High school varsity wrestlers are not allowed to compete in the Youth New Englands, regardless of eligibility with individual states.

As one of the organizers of this years New England Youth Tournament (middle school if you will), I will say that Mike Stuer and I have talked at length about ALL of the issues going on for particular States. We are also sensitive to the issues brought out in this and other threads. No decision regarding keeping things the same or changing would be made before Monday March 1st., at the earliest. We also would like to have as much participation as possible and thus have many aspects of our current weather and power woes to consider and deal with. We will communicate a decision as SOON as it is readily possible to do so. We thank you for your patience and understanding that no matter what is decided, that it will effect many in either a positive or negative fashion. In the end, what we think is best for the kids competing will guide our decisions, but at the same time costs and issues for families will be part of the decision making process.

I didn't register my son at the mass states for the new englands in Lowell. He finished in 2nd place. Who should I contact and has the date been changed. Thank you.

Following our conference call with the other NE States tonight a decision was made to KEEP the original tourney date and venue. All of the info. on the current flyer will REMAIN THE SAME. Tourney date will not move. The biggest piece of news is that due to CT not attending we are opening up the tourney to each states TOP 6 PLACERS BEING ABLE TO WRESTLE THIS YEAR. THAT MEANS IF YOU PLACED TOP 6 IN YOUR STATE CONTACT YOUR STATE DIRECTOR TO GAIN ENTRY. IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE DOING THAT AND PLACED TOP 6 YOU CAN COME TO THE WEIGH-IN ON SATURDAY (SEE FLYER ON YOUTH NEW ENGLANDS THREAD IN "IMPORTANT THREADS") AND YOU CAN REGISTER THERE. YOU MUST PRESENT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO AND YOU MUST REGISTER WITH USA WRESTLING - YOU CAN DO THAT AT WEIGH-IN'S ON SATURDAY AT LOWELL HIGH SCHOOL. IF YOU ARE A MASS KID SEND AN EMAIL TO MIKE STUER HIS EMAIL IS ON THE FLYER ON THE YOUTH THREAD TALKED ABOUT ABOVE.

Without CT in, this would open up three spaces total per bracket. How can each state get 3 more kids in (places 4-6) in each bracket. With 5 states ex CT you will have a 30 man bracket.....

Coach Darl,
I had a similiar question on the "update thread" and here is what I wrote:
In theory 30 might sound like too much
Given our experience, it is highly doubtful that we will get close to 25
It is very likely that the brackets will be more like 20 per
If they are higher we will be ready for it
This option seemed the best of a number we considered - we must keep the tournament viable as well.
Read Mike Stuers post regarding seeding - Mike is the Tourney Chairman

Note on some past history:
Maine and VT numbers have been very low each of the past three years (with only top three). CT has always had all their slots filled - MA has not filled all their slots, even with alternates filled in we still fell much shorter than we would have liked
